Bobby Bamboobelly

Meet Bobby Bamboobelly!  Bobby is one of three new 3D portraits of handsome young men made for my show at Blend Bar.  I love the idea of doing head shots of some Kritters with silly little faces, made officially fancy by adding some monocles.  Bobby is slightly based off one of my favorite Kritter paintings, Sugartooth from 2010.  I was given this frame by my sister, which looks so much like bamboo that naturally i had to paint a panda to put in it. It's a shiny(ish) silver frame so i made all of Bobby's accessories silver: his bowtie, monocle, and chain.  Had a blast sculpting and painting that dumb derpy face and was excited to find he sold after the opening at Blend.

Penelope

Meet Penelope!  I made Penelope as a gift for one of my co-workers, who is one of the most thoughtful people i've ever met.  Always thinking of others, leaving others little gifts and notes, a fellow artist herself, she is incredibly creative.  After all she does for everyone around her, i wanted to give her something personal and from the heart.  Penelope Panda!

Penelope is a 4" custom Kidrobot bub

sugartooth

this is sugartooth.  he is officially my favorite kaotic kritter of all time.  in fact, he is my favorite painting of all time. i can't begin to describe how much my love for him grew and grew as i was designing him, but once i started painting him i was knocked off my feet. or out of my chair. or whatever saying isn't awkward. when i finished painting him, i just repeatedly showed it to the same people, over and over, i was excited. i loves him. see sugartooth in person at my show:

makin' munny: pinky panda!

while in philly this weekend, after the japanese show and the black light show, we finished up everything we had planned for the day... around 6 or 7.. so with nothing to do for the rest of the night, we decided to have a munny making party! meaning, three of us drew on a blank munny for hours while watching crappy movies and sweet home alabama. how romantic. timmy made a camping scene with a bear chasing a dude, and will from laughingboycomics made a punk rocker, while i made pinky panda who loves blueberry pie. we had a horrible lack of supplies (markers that smudged and still smudge.. a lot) so our end products aren't exactly masterpieces, but it was a delightful thing to do on a saturday night, as both a useful art exercise and a fun hang out.

combined animals!

"jellypus"

"pandark"

"searaffe"

"snangangler"

"capideera"

I did some sketches of combined animals sometime last year, and i finally decided to do something with them. i made black and white ink drawings of each of them and pasted them on spray painted masonite. i kind of love them because they aren't just flat on the boards, they are raised a bit so they are more dimensional. they are fun, don't deny it
