princess 1EG's

after recently posting my princess painting, i realized i've never shared princess series on my blog.  i made these in the very beginning when i first started my one-eyed girl series. each princess, with some sort of relation to the background. i think you can tell how early on these are, especially seeing as my version of cinderella has 2 legs.  one of the only 2-legged 1EG's i've done (if not the only one).  i will always love this series.

i've been wanting to do a villain series for quite some time, in the same way as these. you can see some sketches i've done already here.  i'll get to painting them one of these days... so much i want to do, so little time!

a fresh take

this thursday, i'm participating in "a fresh take" where artists take a fresh look at a classic.  i'll be showing my piece above, which is my take on the classic disney princesses. it's not a brand new piece, but i thought it was perfect for the show.  info for the show below!

california!

i'm going to california TOMORROW! that means no posts until i come back on the 12th. i'm beyond excited for a new adventure in a new place with lots of californian friends... and i'm beyond terrified for an unbearably long flight that makes my tummy shrivel and migrate north to my throat. we're starting in san fransisco for friends and bridges and prisons, visiting yosemite national park for easter where i fear being mauled by mountain lions, driving and driving and driving down big sur for some marvelous scenery, stopping for the night in santa barbara for sleepies, then to los angeles with awesome friends, family, and DISNEYLAND!

i hope to see each of these ladies throughout our day in disneyland....

be back soon! don't forget to check here on easter to meet the EASTER BUNNY!!!!
farewell!

Princess of Flavored Bubbles and Lady of the Light Spectrum

this is my submission to Autumn Society "Adventure Time" Art book in tribute to the show. Adventure Time is an animated series on Cartoon Network, starting in March i believe. i didn't think we were supposed to post them until the book came out, but everyone else is... so i did too. see more submissions here. i drew them and pasted them on spray painted masonite, but in layers so it is 3 dimensional. it is fun and reminds me of a pop up book. kind of.

Cartoon Network has granted The Autumn Society a gallery show for march their gallery space inside the studio, along with artwork from the show. My piece will be one of many featured in the show, over in California. Fun!

i haven't seen toooo much from the show yet, but i found this clip that made me laugh hysterically... so please watch it and laugh with me. feel free to watch all of it, but i'm talking about 1:10 until 1:40. hilarious...

I've recently become aware of The Autumn Society.. Artists from and near philly share artwork. (http://theautumnsociety.blogspot.com/)  The Autumn Society puts on themed shows at Brave New Worlds in Philly (http://www.bravenewworldscomics.com/)  and the month of August is all about video games.  I'll be in the show, displaying my version of Princess Peach as a One-Eyed Girl (1EG).  Tribute to Super Mario Bros 2, my favorite!

Opening reception takes place August 7, 2009 from 6 - 10 at 45 N. 2nd Street.  Old City, Philadelphia.  Up for all of August!
