Bugger

Rattley Stanley: Snake Oil Salesman

Meet Rattley Stanley, the traveling snake oil salesman!  Rattley is easily my new favorite custom and i can't help but adore him.  He is a custom Kidrobot Rooz, which I've been wanting to use to make a snake for years and finally moved forward with the idea.  Rattley is especially special because i got a real rattlesnake tail as unique addition.  It even kind of rattles, which is fun.  I was concerned with how i was going to blend the real take with my less realistic sculpting, but i think it turned out well and i love the look of it.  I really love creating little kritters and over the past few years decided to start adding real animal parts to add a little extra fun.  You'll be seeing lots more of that in upcoming customs!

After i told my talented and creative friend Bill that my Rattley was going to be a business man, he suggested making him a snake oil salesman.  Stupid little me didn't know what snake oil was, so i looked it up and read all about the product and Clark Stanley who originally produced snake oil.  Genius idea for my rattlesnake!

who knows and loves the story of the carpenter and the walrus?! well here it is:

i was asked to do a commission of a 4" munnyworld figure and a 3" dunny.  i came up with the idea to recreate the well known story of the carpenter and the walrus.  the beaver is a customized 4" rooz, the walrus is a 3" dunny with it's head turned upside down, making the ears the tusks, and the oyster was fully hand sculpted. it was a very fun one to make so naturally i was excited and proud when this trio's new owner over in italy gave me an incredibly kind and positive response.

dillard

everybody meet dillard! dillard is my little harmonica-playing parasaurolophus, a customized kidrobot rooz figure. obsessed with dinosaurs, my favorite dinosaur ever.  it was only a matter of time until i made a figure of one. i'm pleased with how dillard turned out and i adore him. and his cute little harmonica.

meet little robby runkle! i'm pretty excited about this baby boy. i used kidrobot's rooz figure to make a cute little candy craving cutie seahorse.  he's one of my favorites. vote for little robby runkle for kidrobot's munnyworld contest here!

sir flossalot

sir flossalot! this is a recent commission i did, i believe it was a gift to be given to a dentist or dental hygienist.   like my other shark customs (hammy mcchum and dopey), sir flossalot has real life extra sharp shark's teeth. another great white, but this isn't the end of my shark pieces.

meet my latest creation, hammy mcChum.  i've had this idea for ages and recently felt motivated to get one started: customize a figure into a great white shark, using real-life shark teeth. i did stab myself with the shark little teeth plenty of times, but i absolutely love the contrast between the real teeth and the painted clay. i couldn't have been happier with the outcome, seeing as i didn't even know if it would work at all. this is just the start of using real animal accents on my figures. so many ideas, so little time.

unfortunately for me, i predicted my sister (hunter of sharks teeth) would see hammy and "claim" him and i'd lose my new favorite figure. instead of putting myself through the pain, i stayed unattached as i worked on it, and mentally prepared myself to give it to her for her birthday (although it broke my heart into a million pieces to give him away.) best present ever.
