The Bat Man and Robin

Meet The Bat Man and Robin!  Bat is a 7" Custom Trikky, and Robin is a Micro Foomi head.  I made these guys for last month's Vinyl Thoughts show "UNMASKED: Secret Identities and Hidden Desires" at Bottleneck Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.  The show was lovely some with awesome pieces, I'm too obsessed with art.  Was great to meet the folks in charge, some artists, and happy to say my piece sold that night! :)

Bammer

Meet Bammer!  Bammer is a commissioned 7" Trikky owl who has had a bit of a rough time.  

The person who commissioned this piece said many days lately have been accompanied with some kind of reference to the owl.  He likes their seemingly neutral postures, neither good nor evil.  And to him, somehow represent what it is to be human.  

I love to create something that has true meaning to someone :)

Yoti Howlerton

Meet Yoti Howlerton!  Yoti is my doofy little coyote friend.  He is a customized 7" Kidrobot Trikky, complete with real coyote teeth.  Like i said before, i'm really into incorporating real parts into my customs.  I just love idea and the look of it.

I had a ton of trouble with his outfit, which i spent far too many hours painting and repainting...and repainting.  It was an unbelievably stressful piece for me which is rare/annoying.  I'm pretty happy with the outcome and if anyone is interested, Yoti is still looking for a home sweet home!

i was trying to come up with an idea using kidrobot's trikky figure. i finally thought to flip the head upside down and turn the ears into tusks.  i had no idea if it would work or how it would look, but i gave it a shot. once i finished the head, i had to figure out how to give the 2-legged body a walrus feel to it. i added some flippers coming from the front, while on his backside i filled in the gap between his legs leading to his little tail.   i love the challenge of using these platforms in different, nontraditional ways. 

attaching his hat and whiskers seemed to be the most difficult part of this one. those whiskers were almost the death of me..

sonic and tails

two custom toys for the sonic generation show opening TOMORROW at brave new worlds in philly!  i decided to try something new with these pop-culture based shows by customizing kidrobot's foomi and trikky figures into the sonic and tails characters. it's the first time i've created popular existing characters, and i now have a better idea of what i want and how i want to go about it next time for future characters.
