The Bat Man and Robin

Meet The Bat Man and Robin!  Bat is a 7" Custom Trikky, and Robin is a Micro Foomi head.  I made these guys for last month's Vinyl Thoughts show "UNMASKED: Secret Identities and Hidden Desires" at Bottleneck Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.  The show was lovely some with awesome pieces, I'm too obsessed with art.  Was great to meet the folks in charge, some artists, and happy to say my piece sold that night! :)

Quillbert

Meet Quillbert!

Quillbert is a Custom Foomi Head, with real porcupine quills!  Quillbert is easily the most challenging piece I have created so far.  I'm ashamed at the amount of profanity that left my mouth while sticking those relentless little quills in his back.  They are thin and tiny but WOW do they hurt!  Once he was fully sculpted, quills and all, the second challenge was to paint him... while keeping the quills unpainted.  A long and painful process but it had to be done!  I'm very happy with the outcome, I like to think my blood and tears were worth it :)

Quillbert is currently on display and for sale at Clutter Gallery's "Curious Beasts" show until the end of the month.  He can be purchased here: https://shop.cluttermagazine.com/gallery/424

billiam stinkerstench

Meet Billiam Stinkerstench!
I made Billiam as a gift for a friend who loves to insult me, so i used my art skills to send minor insult his way.  I made Billiam the skunk for my buddy Bill (Lickyourelbow) because he stinks. Even Billiam can't stand the wretched stench he bestows upon others.

Billiam is my very first micro foomi.  I absolutely love the teeny tiny platform and am so excited to create so many more smaller scaled pieces and series.

doctor poingeckster and flamingor

meet doctor poingeckster and flamingor! my mad scientist gecko with his over-sized assistant are getting ready to take over the world.  you wouldn't believe the kinds of crazy experiments they've got going on.

i admit i'm kind of proud of this one, i loved making to all come together, despite the issue of feeling a bit rushed. i used one of the new 7" foomi figures from kidrobot to make this dynamic duo.  i thought the foomi head resembled the body and feathers of a flamingo, so the head turned into the butt, while the body (which i added a beak and some eyes) turned into the head. with much effort and a solid cement base, i finally got it to stand up on its own, at about 17-18 inches tall!

flamingor's eyes were added onto the bottom of the feet of the foomi's body. the goggles fit perfectly around them:

i like being able to notice the shape of the foomi head and imagine it as it's supposed to be seen (head) in comparison to what i've turned it into (butt):

yeah, science!!!

the dancing goat

the dancing goat!  a recent commission, and actually the very last piece i finished in 2011!  this figure was made from the body of a foomi and head of a raffy (i think..)  this was made to be given as a gift to the piano and singer the band the dancing goat, hence him being a dancing goat.

sonic and tails

two custom toys for the sonic generation show opening TOMORROW at brave new worlds in philly!  i decided to try something new with these pop-culture based shows by customizing kidrobot's foomi and trikky figures into the sonic and tails characters. it's the first time i've created popular existing characters, and i now have a better idea of what i want and how i want to go about it next time for future characters.
